Excerpt from the Lick Skillet Coffee Club

             Lissa leaned against the stove.
“I’ve heard every word you’ve said, Silas. You came to hurt me and you have.  If that makes you feel better, then you’ve done it.”
            He started for the door.
She placed herself between him and door. She didn’t want to this, but she had no choice.
“Silas, I forgive you for this.”
            He halted.
            “You forgive me for what?”
“For coming here like this. I forgive you.”
“You think I care? Don’t you think you need to forgive your husband instead?”
“I forgive you,” she repeated quietly.
His fingers curled tightly around her upper arms. Squeezing, he pulled her against him. Leaning down, he pressed his mouth against hers, and forced her back against the doorframe.
            “You do?” he caustically asked.
She looked boldly into his bitter eyes.
“I do,” she whispered. “I pray God forgives you, too.”
Silas propelled her away from him, and slammed the kitchen door behind him.
